Genetic variation (protein markers and microsatellites) in endangered Catalonian donkeys
نویسندگان
چکیده
Genetic variation of the endangered Catalonian donkey breed (Equus asinus) has been analysed at 19 loci including seven protein loci and 12 microsatellite loci isolated from the domestic horse, in 98 individuals of both sexes. Only four protein markers and three microsatellites were polymorphic. Allele frequencies of the analysed loci showed close agreement with Hardy}Weinberg proportions, with the exception of the MPZ002 locus (P(0.01). The withinpopulation inbreeding estimate was not signi"cantly di!erent from zero (as measured by F IS -statistic). The cumulative-exclusion probability for all polymorphic loci was 82.9%, this value still being very low so that these markers could e$ciently be utilised for veri"cation of parentage. Isolation and Characterization of Microsatellite Markers from Endangered Species (Camelus bactrianus)
Iranian bactrian camel (Camelus bactrianus) is an endangered livestock breed with distribution in northwest of Iran. Microsatellites are a powerful marker for animal genetic and cell line identification and population genetic study. In this study, after producing more than 40 Camelus bactrianus fibroblast cell lines, microsatellites loci from the genome of Iranian Camelus bactrianus cell lines ...
متن کاملClinical biochemical parameters of the endangered Catalonian donkey breed: normal values and the influence of sex, age, and management practices effect.
Twelve clinical biochemical parameters were determined in 97 animals of all age groups and both sexes of the endangered Catalonian donkey breed. Significant sex differences were observed for phospholipid concentration (P<0.01). Evaluating the effect of management practices on the various parameters showed significant differences for total bilirubin (P<0.001) and creatinine (P<0.05) concentratio...
متن کاملPedigree information reveals moderate to high levels of inbreeding and a weak population structure in the endangered Catalonian donkey breed.
The Catalonian donkey is one of the most endangered donkey breeds in the world. At present, five main subpopulations exist: AFRAC, which consists of many genetically connected Catalonian localities; Berga, which consists of a single herd located also in Catalunya but under private management; and three minor non-Catalonian subpopulations (Huesca, Sevilla and Toledo). In this study, we analysed ...
متن کاملMicrosatellite analysis of genetic diversity in the Catalonian donkey breed
A total of 111 individuals (79 females and 32 males) of the endangered Catalonian donkey breed were analysed by using a commercial equine paternity polymerase chain reaction typing kit. Eleven of the 12 horse microsatellites were ampli®ed when using donkeyÕs DNA. One locus, ASB2, did not amplify in any sample. The allele range for HTG4 overlapped with HMS7 and their results could not be interpr...
متن کاملCross-amplified polymorphic microsatellites for Campbell's monkey.
Population genetic analyses are of considerable importance for conservation strategies to protect endangered primates. We tested microsatellites of human origin with an aim to understand the genetic diversity of a West African forest guenon, Campbell's monkey, Cercopithecus campbelli. Twelve markers amplified successfully, were polymorphic and were inherited in a Mendelian fashion in a group of...
